The Latest: My Most Recent Projects Unveiled
Since my last post about opening up my Etsy shop, things have been staying busy! I've excitedly received several custom requests and have also been working on learning some new mediums. I hope to use all these experiences to widen my range of product offerings, both on Etsy and to my local clients.
Some of my custom orders have included watercolor paintings and journal cover design. My favorite part about doing custom orders is getting to work with clients on developing their vision for a piece and seeing it become a reality.
Most recently I completed some custom signs for a local college ministry, The Salt Company. One sign was a simple chalkboard design, while the other was a more detailed poster.
This summer I also had the pleasure of designing and producing some chalkboard and painted signs for a couple of local weddings. I love that brides are embracing a unique element of hand-made items; they add personality to the day, helping to set it apart.
As I mentioned before, I've also been working on learning some new things, including different lettering styles and art mediums. I took a private calligraphy class this summer, which has helped me get back into that medium after not trying it for years. I use spare moments and down time to practice typography with different instruments, from a nib and gouache to brush tip watercolor markers.
I am so appreciative of everyone who has commissioned me to do a project, or who has recommended me to a friend. I rely so much on friends and family to spread the word about my work. If you or someone you know is looking for a custom piece or a handmade item, please direct them to this blog, or to my Etsy shop at elmcreativedesigns.etsy.com.
