Join the Dressember Lettering Challenge!
I am excited to announce that I am co-hosting a new lettering challenge in December with my blogosphere friend Amy at Cozy Reverie. But, it's not an ordinary lettering challenge, it's to raise awareness for a great cause! I would love to have you join, whether it's your first or hundredth lettering challenge. If you are interested, keep reading for all the details!
The lettering challenge is called #LetterForDressember, and the goal is to raise awareness and bring attention to Dressember. What is Dressember, you ask? Dressember is a collaborative movement that uses fashion to bring awareness to human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
Advocates who participate in Dressember commit to wearing a dress (or tie if you're a guy) each day throughout the month of December, hence the name. Along with wearing dresses, advocates share stats and information, while asking their networks to consider donating to the cause. I've got more information about Dressember on my personal blog, including answers to frequently asked questions.
How to participate
If you would like to join the lettering challenge, it starts December 1, 2017. You don't have to be a Dressember advocate to participate, anyone can join in the challenge! Creatively letter each day's prompt and share it on social media with the hashtag #LetterForDressember. Tag Amy @cozyreverie and me @elm_creative so we can check out your work! Beyond that, the rest is up to you! You can share information about human trafficking, create artwork, encourage friends to donate, and if you're interested, you can advocate too!
Give + receive
As part of my Dressember campaign, I will be giving away my #LetterForDressember art to my donors. If you would like to get some artwork, here's how it works:
I will post the art daily on my ELM Creative Instagram account. If you want that day's piece, comment "claimed." If someone has already commented, comment "next" to be the next in line. The first person to comment has 24 hours to donate $15 or more to my Dressember page. After 24 hours, if they have not donated, I will reach out to the next person in line. If no one is next in line, I will share the art on Facebook for others to claim if interested.
Another option is to donate ahead of time and claim a piece when you see one that you like. Donors are eligible for one piece of lettering challenge art for each $15+ donation they make to my page. If you're interested in receiving a custom piece of lettering art, donate $30 or more and send me an email to discuss what you would like. All lettering art pieces will be a maximum of 5x8 inches.
If you have questions about Dressember, the challenge, or receiving some of my art, please ask!
